big day out…
wow - fifth year in a row to be denied a photopass for big day out. This time it was tearaway magazine - and it was the first time they had ever been denied. Absolutely gutted to be missing the headless chickens - they were the band i was most looking forward to shooting this summer... Big day out has sure turned into my elanore!
Rhythm & Vines (Day Three)
The last day, and the big one. Weather was very hot, I spent most of the day hiding in the shade of the media center - only venturing out to watch the nekkid watersliders or to shoot the fantastic array of acts on tonight. Got a minor crush on Julia Deans, loving the new look... Midnight was amazing with a spectacular pyro show and a great set from Carl Cox, a great start to the new year!

No rain today, thank goodness!
All the mud is gone, the sky was overcast and there was a slight breeze. Perfect festival weather...
Met and shot quite possibly the nicest guy in music today, the legendary Carl Cox. There's just something about the english accent that makes people seem so friendly. Looking forward to catching his midnight (NYE) set tomorrow night.

Well, just got confirmation that I don't have a Photo Pit Pass for Big Day Out.
Have been presented with a media pass, but will not be allowed to take in a camera so I'm still undecided as to whether I'll go. Thanks so much to you people (you know who you all are) who tried their damndest to help with my quest towards a photo pass - so much appreciated!
After being stuck in this immense Taupo heat for days now, not to mention missing the one gig of last year I was truly excited about due a ride falling through (I'm so sorry Membra and N.U.T.E - I'll catch your next gigs, hopefully!) this holiday season has been poos.
No photos to show as of yet, haven't felt like doing much lately.
Hope eveyone else has been having a choice time!

First of all, thankyou so much to everyone who commented in my last private post - onwards and upwards as they say!
Anyway, Ozzy was announced as the second headlining act at ROCK2WGTN today, stay tuned for more announcements - there are at least two more acts to be announced that will knock your socks off...
And, uh, in unrelated news I had a photoshoot today with a lovely young lass who has just moved up from sunny Christchurch (poor girl). Below is the first shot I took - no doubt the rest of the images will surface sooner or later. I think my monitor may be a bit dark (needs calibrating again), so please excuse if it looks a bit light!

The crew all left the passengers to die under the sea
I don't care what anyone says, A Taste Of Chaos was cool. Damn cool.
Rise Against were awesome, Gallows were awesome, The Bled were awesome, Aiden was ridiculous and lived up to their name of 'the worst band in the world', and the other bands were ok.
I'll post a link to the photos and review when they become available online, but sadly due to the contract I was made to sign the only image I'm allowed to post is the one above. Such is life I guess!

It's been weeks since I've taken a photo. To make matters worse my beloved 135mm fashion/portrait lens is growing fungus due to this horrible humid stormy weather we've been having.
Buuuuuuuuuut I now have a confirmed photographers pit pass for both Motorhead and Taste Of Chaos (I'm looking forward to Rise Against, and of course having a good laugh at Aiden!).
I hope that bloody fungus doesn't spread to my concert lens setup...

As those of you who have seen me in the flesh in the past year or so can attest to, I have been cultivating the, uh, "Fat Bastard" look. While this is all well and good for, say, other people, it's been making me feel for lack of a better word, yuck.
So, in the interests of good health (and of course looking and feeling better) I recently bought myself some new wheels to get to and from work, as well as to have a little fun from time to time.
So far it's been ok, except for the fact that the seat is, uh, ouchie. That and the small fact that I'm currently about as fit as Johnny Cash currently is (and yes I'm aware of the obvious - lets just say my fitness level is zero).
Give me six months and I'll be smokin'!
That or I'll be dead. We'll see...
